Workout Notes:
OHP was the big reveal today. It’s been around two weeks since I last OHP’d and I was prepared to get my ass handed to me and went back down to 55 as opposed to 60. Man, I definitely sold myself short. I could’ve done 65 I’m sure. These sets weren’t a breeze, but the 10th rep was about the speed of how my 5th and 6th reps used to be at this weight. I’m curious now how Intensity Day will go!
So can we all just give it up for MF’ing Matthias Steiner?? Today I reblogged this post about Matthias Steiner in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Well, this is how one of his attempts ended in London.
German weightlifter Matthias Steiner claimed gold in Beijing, but faltered today in the most painful manner while attempting to snatch 196 kilograms, just over 432 pounds. While Steiner’s cleared 200kg in the snatch easily before, he was unable to clear the weight today—leading to a moment so scary match officials brought out the modesty tarp to cover his injury.
Amazingly—seriously, look at the bar bending across the back of his head—he rose from the fall. Not only that, he attempted a snatch of 197 the very next lift; he failed that, too, but in much more conventional style.
So not only did he catch a 432 pound barbell ON HIS HEAD. He got up and attempted a heavier snatch afterwards.
BOSS.
Proof that stronger people are harder to kill.
I’m being forced to go conservative on lower body stuff since my back not close to being fully healed. It’s very tight 24/7 and painful when I do simple things like pick up a shopping bag, or stand for a long period of time.
That being said… today’s workout is below
It was incredible. It didn’t even look like she struggled with it.

Currently at my first ever powerlifting meet ! Just finished squatting with a 3rd attempt of 107.5 kg (~236lbs).

My meet is only 1 week (+1 day) away and my back is still giving me plenty of pain. I really underestimated how much I tweaked it 3 (??) weeks ago. At this rate my deadlift numbers might be less than my squats…
Oh well. This hopefully won’t be my last meet, but damn this really sucks.
